Module 2 - Managing Teams and Performance Management - places you into teams of approximately 10 where you will remain for the the duration of the Module.  In these teams you will learn to lead, be part of a team and reflect on that process.

Module 2 differs in format from Module 1 and may have you approach learning in a way that you have not experienced before. The Module is split into distinct themes that will cover aspects of both team and performance management: for one of these weekly themes you will be given the opportunity to 'lead' your team. The reading for this module does not appear in a traditional learning material format. Instead there are weekly internet based articles, sections from web-based books and videos to view and discuss.  Each week you will work within your Module team on activities that will help you to contextualise what you have read, thinking about their application to the police and the link to your area of working.

This module explores Human Rights and Ethical Dilemma.

Policing, the Criminal Justice System and Human Rights is designed to enable you to assess the current system in Scotland and to examine how emerging human rights issues will impact upon current and future policing practice and the Criminal Justice System in contemporary Scotland. You will be able to access various ways in which the interests of the police and other public service bodies may coincide or conflict with those of other organisations and how difference can be effectively resolved.  You will also place the development of legislation and police accountability in Scotland in its historical and international context and analyse the key factors which influence a human rights compliant police service.

Ethical Decision Making will enable you to identify aspects of decision making that are to be undertaken as a supervisor.  You will explore models pertaining to decision making and the ethical nature of these should encourage you to consider your role responsibilities further in order to manage dilemmas which you will face in you working environment.  You will develop an approach to decision making which is consistent with the organisation's approved model(s) and which ensures you are able to make appropriate, effective and defendable decisions.
